Special Convening on Sudan at the 81st Ordinary Session of the African Commission of the Human & People's Rights

Join Africans for the Horn of Africa of Africa (Af4HA) Initiative, the African Commission on Human and Peoples’ Rights (ACHPR), Open Society Foundations (OSF) and The African Centre for Democracy and Human Rights Studies (ACDHRS) for a special convening at the 81_^st Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and People’s Right.

This event will take stock of past and current efforts being made to halt the war. It will interrogate the country’s situation, and the responsibility of regional, and international institutions mandated to act to protect lives, and bring about peace and security to the country and by extension, the region. Regional as well as international efforts to bring about peace in Sudan have failed. Although Special Envoys have not given up on the quest to bring about lasting peace in Sudan. As a result, the organizers seek to elicit solidarity with the citizens of Sudan, and proffer policy options to resolve a war that has been described as: ‘the world’s worst humanitarian crisis.’

The event will bring together the ACHPR leadership, ACDHRS, HRDs attending the 81st Session of the ACHPR, the Special Envoys on Sudan, as well as diplomatic and consular corps based in The Gambia, and government officials, as well as media.
